anyone know how to protect yourself from them?

my wow account got hacked, but I can't figure out how... I need a good way of figuring out if I've got a keylogger on a box on my network and how to prevent it in the future.
 
i've used Perfect Keylogger and installing bitdefender antivirus caught it and asked if i wanted to remove it... so a virus scanner might help?
