QFT x Infinity! thing is amazing! I got one for my twin bro for Christmas but now I want one so darn bad!

BTW, the G11 is the same thing without the LCD screen for a lower price.

EDIT: yes the backlights turn off on the G15/G11.

Until all the stuff wears off the keys. They are poorly made as are most Logitech keyboards with regard to finish. It just wears down too fast. 🙁

They certainly dont do that anymore. He spends his day on that thing, and there isn't a speck of a sign of wear on it.

I was given two to try out when they were brand new (2005) and one failed from a coke spill but that was the Ocean's fault I swear. 😉

The second one is very worn. I'll take a pic when I can turn off the lights.

Someone actually posted about this problem I believe. I think he posted in a thread where that person sent in his 700 mouse and got a MX Revolution in return. I believe he called them about his keyboard and got a new one for free that doesn't seem to have that problem.

Actually, the newer version of the keyboard doesn't wear off. So you don't have to worry about that anymore.

Cant beat the build quality of a Unicomp, they now build the IBM / Lexmark Model M clicky keyboards:

I have a black one from them that is USB. Love it and identical build quality of the IBM Model M that I used to own before I went full USB.

It does not have all the fancy buttons, but it is built like a tank and will probably last for the rest of your life (assuming you do not pour crap all over it).

Haha it figures. Usually I don't get junk (the QX6700 engineering sample for example) but I just figured it was poor as other Logitech keyboards wore down fast too. They get used a LOT here.

I've got a Saitek Eclipse and my keys are starting to wear off. Particularly the W,A,S,D and ctrl keys from playing BF2 so much, lol.

when heavily used keys start to wear off I just put translucent tape over them/.

if you're good, its fast and easy and well.. it works bloody good I find.

I love my Logitech G15. I've had it for about a year now, and it's never let me down. There's also no sign of wear.

Getting used to the key placement was the only thing I wasn't fond of with this keyboard. It took a couple of weeks to realize that the tab, caps lock, and left shift weren't at the very edge of the keyboard - the G keys are. It's sort of like getting used to a new car in a way.

The keyboard has tons of features. As mentioned before, all of the keys are backlit (blue only - I believe the newer Salitek is blue, red, and purple). There's a dimmer switch for the backlighting that has three states - dim, bright, and off. The keyboard also has the usual media keys (play / pause, stop, next track, previous track, volume dial), as well as a mute button. One of the nicest features of the keyboard is a toggle switch that allows you to disable the Windows keys, which is very handy for full-screen gaming.

Finally, the two main features of the keyboard are definately not disappointing. The G keys can be mapped to any normal keystroke (you could set them up as another WASD configuration, for example), as well as macros (full lines of text, excellent for /commands in many games.) The LCD screen isn't something that you're going to stare at all the time, but it is nice for at-a-glance stats, or seeing the time if you don't have a clock in the room. In most of the supported games, it'll give you information about your ammo, level, location, etc. One of the handiest things is the Ventrilo support, which will show you who's keyed-up, which channel you're in, and a few other things even during a full-screen game.

Overall, the keyboard was one of my best purchases. It's very pricey compared to other keyboards, but the features are definately worth the extra cash.

I have a Microsoft Ergonomic Natural Keyboard 4000. I love this thing. I was HIGHLY skeptical about it when my friend suggested it as I had been using regular keyboards for ages. Although it was a little frustrating to learn with, because of the seperated key design, and some keys were a little bit bigger, it was utterly awesome after the learning curve. Ergonomic is definately the way to go. 😛 Trying to type on regular keyboards feels awkward and painful on extended uses now. I don't know why I have never switched.

As far as features go it's got a lot. Mail key, 2 web keys, 5 favorites keys you can custom set, (EX: Downloads folder, Music folder, Winamp, etc.. very handy) It's got a mute, volume adjust, and a play/pause, calculator button. No next track option, but I use global hotkeys for that. Also it has back and forward web keys, I hardly use those however. What really sold me though was the leather wrist rest, its godly 😛. I use it for gaming like UT and such and never have problems with key strokes not registering.

Ergnomic design is probably not to your liking, but just thought I would mention it for anyone else who was interested. Only downsides are, it's bigger because the wrist rest is build on and it has a little learning curve if you never typed on ergonomic keyboard before. 😛

The LCD is neat but it uses a ton of TSR's and typical bloatware. Kind of scary a keyboard and mouse driver take up more installation cabinet space than Windows 95. :Q

MS keyboards are better but it's hard to find one that isn't a combo. I don't care for MS mice. The wheels are horrible. Viscous damping feel + no detent = major turn off for me.

The Elite in black (rare!) is awesome. PS2 of course but comes with a USB dongle.

Lol Yeah I use to think so too. At first I didn't like it, but I gave it a few days and stuck with it. Its just so much more comfortable and easier to use than I ever thought. Definately makes a difference to me.

EDIT: Also if you pick one up, let me know your thoughts on it. 😛

I have this viewsonic keyboard i picked up at either best buy or comp usa about 2 to 3 years ago. Its silver trim with black keys. I love it, its quiet, i like the feel, and I game alot and there is NO wear at all on this keyboard.
