As the topic stated, my USB keyboard works in BIOS but not in window. Once the window starts, the kb is dead. kb is completely fine and works in other computers.

Something noticeable: 1) if I uninstalled the keyboard driver, then replug in
the keyboard, it will work for a short period.
2) in BIOS (msi EFI) it says it detects 2 Keyboard
device
(I do not know how to change that)
About my computer: window 7& msi Socket 1156 (Intel i3/i5/i7)

Thanks for your time and any help is appreciated :)

The fact that it works properly on another computer is strongly indicative that you have a problem specific to your computer.

What is the make and model of the keyboard? What version of Windows are you running? Have you checked the manufacturer's support website to see if there is a driver available for the keyboard? Have you tried the keyboard plugged into a different USB port (i.e. if you are currently using the front USB ports, try one on the back, or vice versa)? It isn't that impossible or even unusual to have a USB port to go bad on a machine. You could also have a mis-wired USB port as well.

You might try deleting the USB root devices in device manager to force Windows to find them again and re-install the drivers. It probably also wouldn't hurt to install the most recent motherboard chipset drivers and BIOS available for your motherboard.

Have you tried using the jumper to clear the CMOS and start over?

As Steltek suggests, have you checked MSI's site for a BIOS update?

Some BIOS's require you to enable USB devices to work in Windows, even if they're recognized in the BIOS, itself.

To Steltek, My keyboard is Verbatim Speaker Keyboard and I am running Window 7 with msi motherboard MS 7673. I wonder if the fact that it is a speaker built-in has anything to do with this problem. I called Verbatim they said there is no specific driver for the keyboard, and referred me to email their technical support which I am still waiting for response.

My USB port works fine and other device can work on that port. I also tried other ports, including the one in the back, does not work either. I have done uninstalled the drivers and then re-installed the driver many time, but as my thread stated, it only works for a couple hours. I use MSI liveupdate 5 to update everything to latest, but does not work either.

To Harvey, I cannot find anything in the BIOS to enable/disable the keyboard, my Bios is msi efi and it looks like this

thanks for your help, bear with me for I am not good with computers.

When you tried the keyboard on another computer, did you use it for an extended period of time or did you just plug it in long enough to see if it worked?

Also, you indicate that it only works a few hours at a time. Is the system putting USB devices to sleep to save power? If so, this keyboard might have a poorly written driver that does not like being put to sleep. You might go in to device manager, click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Right-click on each of your USB Root Hubs one at a time, click the Power Management tab, and remove the checkbox from the option to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", then hit Ok. This will keep the system from putting the keyboard to sleep to see if this makes a difference with the keyboard continuing to operate.
