Keyboard woes - BIOS setting problem?

I have an Athlon 64 3400+ and a gigabyte motherboard K85760M that was moved into a new mini-tower casing. Everything is hooked up properly so far as I can tell (connection and wire-wise) but the keyboard will not work in Windows XP Pro at all. (The motherboard was not sparked or broken in anyway so I don't think it is a hardware issue). The USB ports work because the keyboard is backlit and lights up and if I plug the mouse into the ports the mouse works. But the keys are not recognized at all in Windows.

I have formatted and reinstalled Win XP but nothing was fixed. I am wondering if something happened in the cmos or bios but I am not technically skilled enough to try and figure out what it may be. The keyboard works when I try to make changes to the bios but does absolutely nothing when Windows boots.

Any ideas or suggestions are most appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Michael

If its a usb keyboard then you have to enable usb kb support in the bios on some boards

the keyboard is brand new and was working properly within Windows before moving it to the new case.

do what RadiclDreamer suggested and look in the bios to enable it -
ah, but how do you get into the bios without a keyboard????

dont suppose there is a computer shop near you.
You can get a usb/ps2 converter for very very cheap - might solve all your problems

recognizes an older PS/2 port keyboard and the USB keyboard is enabled in the bios (it works). USB support in the bios appears to be enabled by default and the only options are to enable USB support and enable legacy USB support (both currently enabled).
