first time here. I see a lotta stuff on net about this. long ago i gave up on trying to reinstall win doze and put ubuntu on my xps. I am up to Lucid lynx now. I. have had this. keybd prob before but eventually it went away.
some people get to make a few key presses. i get none.
it is pointless to ask me to run safe mode, etc etc. nothing works. no mouse, no board. f2'f10,f7. all unresponsive.have done the jumper trick. reset CMOS or whatever they callit. I don't care about getting a dell approved motherbd because I will be using Linux.
a lli wanna know is this.
idont unnerstan all this btx, jazz. what I want is this....a motherboard that will fit in my tower. if it fits, it will work, right? it has that notch cut out of it. I am adding another hard drive from a hosed MY Book. but I noticed that there is only one of those blue cables. is this normal?
my number for my machine is c34dm91 if that means anything. it was constructed in 2006.
I have seen two suggestions for mboards.
x8582 and fJo30. I am an apple,Linux fan. I just don't wanna trash this thing. so the reason I mention thisis that I don't wanna spend over 100 bucks on mboard.
but it appears that I can't find one at any price. I would sell it but I don't wanna eBay it until its operational. thats not my way.
1. dya think therre is any other way to fix?
2. is ther an alternative motherbd that will work?
btw
Dif keyboards and mice make no dif. as do dif usbs. also install disks just get me to a place that stops because I don't key press. I tried toreinstall ubuntu, but get stuck onlnaguage page. then it times out to grey ubuntu logo. forever.
that's about it.

Did you ever try connecting a standard PS2 keyboard and entering the CMOS to enable legacy USB devices, including keyboard and mouse?

Your abused English makes it difficult to understand more about your problems.
