Anyone know shortcuts for making that letter or other language specific letters?

Ctrl+: then type o. Works in Word and in some other Windows apps.

If you want the ASCII code, check character map.

So by holding down the alt key (left alt, not right) and pressing 0246 on the numeric keypay (with numlock on) doesn't produce ö ?

all of the special characters and their shortcut keystrokes are on the "character map", usually under the accessories folder on the start menu.... if you can't find it on your start menu, you may not have installed it during the windows setup. you can goto control panel, add/remove programs, then windows setup to add it at anytime.

If you've got a dell, try turning on number lock, holding down the Fn key, holding down the Alt key, and then use the numbers written in blue on the letter portion of the keyboard. Not sure if this works with any other brand of laptop though.

Doesn't even have one you can get by using the function key? Normally with those you hold fn+alt+0246.

<< Easy: buy a scandinavian keyboard ;). >>

Do you know any place in the US where I can buy a scandinavian keyboard.
I just moved from Sweden to Tucson, AZ and I need to get one just in case of an accident (coke, coffe...)

And yes: ALT+ 0228 = ä
ALT+ 0229 = å
ALT+ 0246 = ö
