Keyboard port burnout??

I think the keyboard PS/2 port on my MSI 6380LE as burnt out. My USB keyboard works fine, but when I plug in my PS/2 keyboard, nothing on the keyboard lights up and XP doesn't detect it at all. I tried the keyboard at work and it works fine, and I tried a different PS/2 keyboard and that one didn't work on my mobo either.

I am going to but a new mobo (A7V333), but before I do, I was wondering if there is a chance that it is not my mobo and maybe something else. i was thinking it may be my power supply - maybe there is a short and it isn't delivering power to the keyboard port...

Anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, you can burn a port out. Some mobo's have a fuse, check to see if you have one and whether it's blown or not.( It would be located near the kb/mouse ports) Is there another comp you can try your keyboard on? The psu most likely isn't the problem, you can short the port out just by removing the kb while the power is on. Best practice is to turn the comp off, pull the power cord, then un-hook the kb. Most of the time, nothing will happen if you do it while running, but every now and then...

Yeah I tried the kb at my work and it was working fine. I try not to unplug the kb while the comp is on, but I may have done it in the past....but usually I shut down first. So you think it is the port? Any chance it's the hard drive? I just want to make sure before I go invest time and money on a new mobo.
