Strange problem. First I have already swaped out the motherboard and the problem didnt go away. I have also updated the bios on both motherboards and I have swapped out the keyboard. I have also installed the same model motherboard in another system and I don't have the keyboard problem in that computer. I own six of these motherboards several not installed yet so I can swap things out. I have also removed all the external peripherals hoping that would allow the keyboard to be detected with a normal boot.
My keyboard is not detected on a normal reboot or startup. If I go into my bios first though it works perfectly and is detected. Works everytime and fails everytime if I do not enter the bios first. This is an odd problem I I have never encountered.
Initially when I installed the OS the keyboard would sometimes work and sometimes not but that was because of going in and out of the bios I believe now with hindsight.
When I talked to MSI tech support on thursday the guy said that it was a failing ps2 port for the motherboard but that was before I realized that my keyboard works fine simply by me entering the bios first before booting up. Now that I have installed a another brand new motherboard and have the same problem I believe that it cannot be a failing ps2 port but something else must be the issue.
I am going to build another system soon with the same motherboard that the problem started with and see if the problem exists on that sytem.
Has anyone here experienced this issue before with a similiar or the same motherboard?
I cannot call MSI back until monday to discuss the issue so figured I would ask here.
thanks
