A Compaq EVO PC, 500d. PS/2 KB and mouse.W2K Pro SP4
Everything was working fine since forever, until todays afternoon when it stopped responding.
After a restart I discovered that I can use my KB normally to log on to PC BIOS setup, and I can press F8 and choose a logging mode for Windows afterwards.
But whatever mode I choose, niether the KB nor the mouse seem to prove presence.
Im gonna try now to boot from a Norton Rescue Disk, just in case. if no viruses are there, im afraid i have to reinstall Windows.
This is what came up with. Is there a way??

did you try re-seating the keyboard and mouse?

if you can get into windows, why not uninstall the keyboard drivers and see what that does? (assumes you can hot key in windows....people like me rarely use mice for anything but web browsing and games)
