Keyboard/mouse problems

Konichiwa, treat me gently as I am new to these forums (although I have read them for a while).

The problem occurs when I boot the pc, the desktop appears and then the keyboard and mouse are not responding. No light in the keyboard (num lock etc.). I then have to push the power-on once to have it shut off in the right way, and then try again. Sometimes I have to reboot 2 or 3 times.

Another problem: When I move the mouse (when it's finally working), I can hear a buzzing sound in the speakers. Then stop moving the mouse and the sound goes away.

All help greatly appreciated, coz it's freaking me out.

Hi,

Could you post a few details about your system?

Make/Type of mouse/keyboard?
OS you use?
Whether you use the latest manufacturer specific drivers?

Good luck,

Andy

I knew i forgot something, lol, sorry.

The pc is a Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo
MB is a MSI, dont know the model number, but it is a VIA KT266a.
Mouse is a rebadged Logitech and keyboard is a ??? with hotkeys.
OS is WinXP SP1 and all other updates.
Video GF4 MX420 using NVIDIA Det. 41.19
Onboard sound ALC, using ALC .3800 driver from FS support site.
Using WinXP's VIA 4-in-1.

Could it be the motherboard thats causing the keyboard/mouse problems, and yes I have tried to reconnect the key/mouse, in the PS2 ports.

Thanks.

Good practice to download and install VIA Hyperion (4 in 1) v 1.45 drivers from www.viaarena.com first.

Get back to us after this.

Good luck,

Oh no! Do I really have to.

I had the 4.45 on my last install (just formatted a few weeks ago) and I had the same problems. The pc was delivered with pre 4.45 drivers and have had the same problem, ever since I dropped it (oops, damn you feet). Anyway thx for the help so far Fencer128, but could it be that the mb got damaged during the drop ?

Hi,

Well - if this behaviour only started after you dropped the machine, then I'd have to agree that damaged hardware is probably your problem :(

Good luck,

Andy
