Keyboard & Mouse not working in windows

Hello everybody. I'm typing this from my laptop because...

I have a problem...

I have installed new drivers for my motherboard because there was a big yellow questionmark in the device list next to "sm buscontrollers" They werent installed.

My computer however was running fine, only problem was that my dvd player wasnt working properly so I hoped that when I fixed the sm buscontrollers everything would be solved.

Not very true. My keyboard and mouse stopped functioning, both are USB devices. They work in bios and the lights go on when booting up but as soon as the computer starts up windows the lights go out and they cease to function. The mouse remains in the center of the screen. For the rest windows boots up normally.

system recovery didn't work.

What can I do? Any ideas?

thanks in advance for the help

Tim,

Obviously those drivers conflict with the KB/Mouse setup. Does the KB/mouse set have a CD with drivers? If yes, re-install the drivers. Does your mobo CD have USB drivers? If yes, install them. Last thought, go into your BIOS and check the status of your USB settings. Another thought, go into Device Manager and uninstall your KB/Mouse and/or USBs, then shut down and re-boot. That should install any missing drivers that Windows provides.

Good luck, Noel
