Keyboard issue..

I have just got a Trust Silverline Direct Access keyboard but when plugged in, it doesn't work and every key causes the metronome in the PC to beep...so you can play a flat tune on it.

I am RMAing it but I was curious as to what could be wrong with it?

Probably faulty circuit inside the keyboard so not much you can do about that apart from get a replacement.
