I get a message saying "keyboard not detected. Turn off keyboard lock" at POST.
How do I "unlock" the keyboard?

This may be something totally different, but in my BIOS I have the option to halt the POST if a keyboard error occurs. If it's disabled, I can boot normally even if a keyboard is not connected.

Anyways, all I can really suggest is to try another keyboard and see what happens.

I have two PS/2 ports on my mobo. I tried a second PS/2 keyboard in both ports. Same error. I can't get into setup to change the bios without the keyboard.

go into the BIOS. there should be a selection for "halt on ___." by default, it's usually set to halt on keyboard errors.

change it so that it's not halting on any errors.

Thanks. I'm going to see if I can get hold of a USB keyboard from work tomorrow so I can go in and change the bios.

Update. I rebooted from a Rescue Disk. Rolled back system (XP). Restarted. Got an error message which indicated a possible Blaster Worm. But no problems with keyboard. Until I re-scanned with SystemWorks to see if I had a Blaster Worm. No Worm detected, but keyboard problem returned immediately after scan completed. Now computer won't reboot from Rescue Disk. So it's definitely something that happens with the virus scanning software. Would a different rescue disk help?
