Keyboard Does't Work On New System !

Hi all

I've installed new system right now:
M.B : Asus P8P67LE
CPU: Core i5 2400
RAM: Corsair 2*2G
Power: Thermaltake 600W
VGA: Sapphire 6790
HDD : WD (I've bought it 4 years ago)

I think I've installed evrything correctly but at first the HDD was not detected and keyboard didn't recognized, when I changed the HDD chassis from Sata 3G to Sata 6G port the HDD was detected but keyborad doesn't work. there is a message at the start up of system " Press DEL to enter EFI BIOS setting" . 😕

I think there is something wrong with my HDD or MoBo. when I connect HDD to the Sata3/6G ports my HDD is not detected and also the keyboard doesn't work (but the keyboard LEDs are on). IF I don't connect the HDD to the MoBo the Keyboard will work and I can enter BIOS.
something strange is when I connect HDD to SATA 6G_E the HDD will be detected but system doesn't boot !!!

Hooman is this your first build and do you know what you are doing because this...

there is a message at the start up of system " Press DEL to enter EFI BIOS setting" .

..makes me think that you don't.

Do you know anyone who could take a look at it for you? Or can you provide a bit more information on the build including...

* This 4 year old HDD you are having problems with. Did you do a fresh install of windows on it or have you just unplugged it from your old pc and plugged it into your new one?(I only ask this because you don't mention anything about your OS)

*have you installed hardware drivers? (Once again you don't mention anything about this)

* is the keyboard a USB one?

Edit * and does the keyboard work ok on another computer?

Hi Puppies04
- I've build two systems 4 years ago.
- HDD is ok and I unplugged it from my old PC and connected it two the new one.
- system did not started so I couldn't install hardware drivers yet.
- The keyboard is PS2 and it works properly.

You can't do that hooman, well you can but unless the pcs are very similar spec you will run into problems like the ones you are experiencing. Unfortunatly I can't tell you if your mobo does have a problem or not but do you have a copy of windows that can be transfered between pcs, i.e not a single activation one because single activation discs will be locked to your old Mobo.

At the moment your HDD is telling your pc to load all the drivers and settings for your old pc and I assume that is nothing like your new one. Do you see what the problem is now?

I got it now 😉
So, you mean if i use and empty HDD or if I format C drive of this HDD the problem will be solved ?

Yes if you don't have any data you want to keep from that drive then format it and re-install windows then if you are still having issues report back here😀 good luck

It is in the advanced section of the bios, i'm not at home at the moment so i can't tell you exactly where but it certainly isnt hidden. I think mine came set as standard to try to boot from the DVD drive first.

Actually I think you should be able to change it from the easy bios screen at the bottom you should see a picture of your HDD and DVD drive. Move the DVD drive to the left of the HDD and it should boot from that first.

Hi Puppies04
Finally I could fix the problem by updating the BIOS.
in older version "Selecting Boot Device" was disabled ! but after that everything became OK.
by the way, thanks for your tips...
