Hey, this is my second post so if i foul it up, please forgive me....
Nevertheless here is my problem:
I bought a HP computer a few years back, it had Windows Millenium Edition installed as the default OS. I have updated since to 2000 and then to XP, although my keyboard is not working properly. All of my basic keys work, such as the numbers letters, Fkeys, and what not work, although my multimedia buttons do not work. I tried to update my driver, although it doesnt help at all. I have updated my computer with all the windows updates, although to no prevail.
Is there anyways that I can program these keys through windows?

For the multimedia keys to work, you do have to install a driver specific to that kbd. If it is the original hp kbd, then they should have the driver for it. You should be able to find it on the original CDs that came with the computer. If you have lost the original CDs and there is no updated driver on their web site, you may have to buy a replacement set of CDs to get the driver. Cheaper to just go out and buy a new multimedia kbd that has the driver disk with it. You can often get the MS kbds for under $20.

Neo, as Zepper suggested, unless you are totally in love with your HP keyboard, go out and get one of the MS Internet keyboards. THey come in colors and are far better than the HP ones IMO. Also, welcome to AT! :D

Oh, I forgot. You could also try to determine the actual mfr of the kbd (hp doesn't actually make any kbds). You can then go to their site and get drivers. See if there is an FCC Id no. on the bottom and go to- www.fcc.gov -there is a page there to link the Id nos to a mfr. Or send me a picture of the label on the bottom and I'll see if I can trace the mfr.

Here is a link I found while looking for something else. It will take you to a page that sells surplus HP kbds. If they are like yours, the driver link is at the bottom of the page.
HP Kbd .
