Keyboard (and mouse?) suggestion for a Mac Mini

Hi all,

Long time no see. Hope everyone is doing well.

I had a question about a good keyboard and mouse for a Mac Mini. (I know, I know - these things vary from person to person, but I figure I'd ask.)

Right now, I've got a keyboard made by a company called macally (about $20) which I got at Microcenter when I bought it. The mouse is a Logitech optical basic three button mouse. The keyboard is very flat -- almost like a laptop keyboard, and, in fact, much less comfortable than the keyboard on my 13" macbook. I'm assuming that a regular (a/k/a made for Windows) keyboard will do just fine on the Mac (as long as it's USB)? I suppose the Windows key just becomes the Apple key?

Anyway, thanks in advance for any info or suggestions that people have.

Any USB keyboard should work just fine and I have noticed in teh past that if you hook one up that it (the Mac) isn't sure how to deal with it will ask you a question or two about the keyboard.

The Windows key does become the CMD key.

I personally use an Apple Aluminum Keyboard and a Logitech VX Revolution on my hackintosh. My roommate uses an Apple Aluminum Keyboard and a Logitech MX620 (I think that is the model number) on his hackintosh.

The Apple keybaords will feel just like your MacBook, but you have to pay for that feeling as they are not cheap. I am in the camp that feels that since you are using your computer a lot then one shouldn't skimp on the keyboard and mouse and monitor if they can help it.

Second the Apple wireless aluminum keyboard and I use Logitech VX Nano (sometimes around $30 when you find dented box units at Logitech - watch tech bargains dot com for deals)

I am really happy with the apple bt keyboard. I'm using a magic mouse but am not particularly in love with it. I rarely need to side-scroll with a full-screen browser on a hdtv.

It looks nice and no one here has any issues with left/right clicks.

Microsoft has excellent OS X drivers for their keyboards or mice.

I personally use the wired USB keyboard from Apple with the numeric keypad, along with a Magic Mouse.

That keyboard is pretty good - recommended. The Magic Mouse is pretty good too in many ways, and the scrolling is nice, but in some ways I still prefer a standard mouse.
