Im sure this sounds weird but its true. Just recently this started to happen. Whenever I boot-up with both keyboard and mouse hooked in, Windows does not recognize either and I am left without any control of the OS. But when I remove the keyboard physically from the mobo, the mouse is detected and works just fine. Unfortunately when I disconnect the mouse and just have the keyboard on, the keyboard isn't detected properly by WIN 2000. Now, the keyboard functions properly in the bios setup and up until where I can press F8 to choose alternate boots such as Safe Mode etc;. After that, the keyboard stops functioning. Also another problem to mention is that in the bootup sequence, right after everything is detected, and before starting to lead WIN2K, there is an error message on the top of the screen which says "Invalid boot.ini file" "booting from c:/WINNT". I am wondering if this is the problem. If so, what can I do to fix it? The specs of my PC are below. It is an overclocked celery 366 to 550. Yes I have tried to boot at 366 and still this problem occurs. I am thinking it might be a driver conflict. I don't want to reinstall Windows. Please help with any advice you may have. Thanks

Specs:
Celery 366 oc'd to 550
128 mb Cas 2 SDRAM PC133
Maxtor 2940U 20GB harddrive
Voodoo 2
Number Nine Revolution 3D
SB 16
Linksys ethernet card
Toshiba 24X CD ROM
Floppy
HP Keyboard with hot-keys for internet and volume etc;
model # SK-2501K
HP Mouse with the wheel in the middle. Replica of the logitech mouse.

Thanks again.

I had almost an identical problem with a win2k machine. It turned out to be a bad keyboard. The keyboard worked fine in 98, but came up with a problem detecting the hard drives in bios. It would require you to hit a key to continue booting for each HD installed.

One more thing to add is that the keyboard use to function just fine. It slowly started giving problems, then I updated it's drivers, now it doesn't work at all. I have uninstalled those drivers but still no success. Please respond. Thanks.
