Keyboard and Mouse are dead after Linux Install- HELP!!!

hi,

I just installed Mandrake Linux 8.0 on a Dell P100. The installation procedure went smoothly. The problem is right when it loads the Gnome interface, the keyboard and mouse go dead. During the install, mouse and keyboard worked fine. I swapped mice and keyboards and still the same problem. I did a fresh install of Mandrake again and boom, dead mouse and keyboard once Gnome loaded up. I have no clue what's wrong. Please help this Linux newbie!!

Can you test and see if you can change to a console: press ctrl+alt+f1 for instance!!
What are the interfaces?? PS/2, USB, Serial ??
