Keyboard and Mouse acting strangely

I am running XP Pro and this morning my mouse and keyboard started acting up. When I try to double click on any folder or program it brings up the items properties. Also my keyboard won't type letters but the F keys work and when I backspace it puts a little rectangle instead. Any idea what could be going on?
 
I thought I tried that but I went back in to my desktop and pressed it a couple times and all is well now. Thanks for the help.
