Keyboard always powered?

I have a corded Logitech keyboard that I purchased with my new rig and I noticed that the num lock and function lights on the keyboard are on even when the computer is shut down. Is this normal?

you probably have a feature turned on that allows you to power on your system using a keybaord button
check bios to turn it off or change to a hotkey

Nope... All keyboard suspend options are turned off.

I did notice that the 'ACPI Suspend Type' is set to S1&S3 and the 'ACPI APIC Support' option is enabled in the BIOS.

Do I need these? What do they do?

Is this a usb keyboard? My mem card reader stays powered up as well until I unplug the machine and hit the power switch to drain the residual power stored in the psu.

Similar problem here too. The lights in my PS/2 mouse are always on. They went off when used on my old PC but stay on with the new one - Asus K8N-E Deluxe mobo.

So should I take a look in the BIOS for Suspend features?

I guess I'll take a look and re-post if it works!

check motherboard documentation. some motherboard support power-on from Keyboard through jumpers.

That and to add some keyboards LED stays on to let you know it's hooked up and ready...

Yes, "Wake from" or "power on from" features rely on the devices being powered so usually there are jumpers that connect the kbd and/or mse etc. to the 5V Standby power line. Just disable those jumpers and their lights will go out.

Nope, not on my A8N-SLI Deluxe.

It only has 1 jumper, and it is used to clear CMOS.

Oh well, I'll just live with the lights. Is there any chance it means my PSU is defective?

no it is normal...just using the standby volts like someone stated above

On that Asus there may be two locations for settings in the BIOS then - one place for the "Wake On" settings - and another for the "Power On" settings. My Abit has jumpers to connect the various items to standby power.
