The only thing I can tell you for certain will happen is that you will produce a ridiculous amount of gas out of both ends.

Yeast converts sugar into alcohol. So no, it wouldn't work. That's assuming it would even survive in your stomach. Hydrochloric acid isn't exactly weak sauce.

yeast don't metabolize alcohol, alcohol is a waste product of yeast's metabolizing sugar.

I would think the key to avoiding intoxication would be to avoid consuming intoxicants. Purposefully consuming intoxicating substances and attempting to mitigate the effects of that intoxication seems counterproductive, especially since intoxicating substances are frequently more expensive than non-intoxicating substances.

This sounds like the making of middle school awesomeness.

"Dude! I got the yeast, you got the juice boxes? Okay, Let's party!"

"I don't feel so good."

"Wait, I feel a buzz!"

"I think I need to go to the bathroom right now."

"I think I'm too drunk to stand."

I drink beer because beer is exceptionally delicious.

I would like to be able to drink maybe 5 or 6 gallons of beer and still be sober "enough" to maintain intelligent conversations and also not piss myself.

That said, I'm not going to go and swallow a bunch of active yeast.

I did a quick google earlier today and the consensus seems to be that it is very unlikely to work

This may not work for reasons explained, but mixing dry yeast and yogurt may be creating an actual effect for some reason. In other words, his conclusion may or may not be accurate, but I would take the position that something is probably going on for him to say this, and that in the very least, promotes his belief in it. As a result, I would be interest to know what is actually going on from a scientific standpoint.

I can't imagine the weight gain using this method. just buy non-alcoholic beer for no buzz.
