Well, I have never really cared for bush. I figured better kerry than him. I never like either of them to tell the truth. But as I flipped through field and stream today. WOW. He voted to ban semi auto shotguns. WHAT?!?!?!?!?! WTF!! I use a semi auto every weekend for rabbit and quail. And now I read this article on voteyoursport.com. Basically they are conning sportsmen into voting against themselves. That pisses me off to no end. I usually dont fall for that NRA garbage. Im not a crazy freak like them. But I do expect to keep my right to bear arms. Kerry, take my semi auto out of my cold dead hands you big headed prick!

See . Thats the thing. I don't personally like all the mil-spec guns. Im a wood stock blued action and barrel kind of guy. I view my guns as tools. I go game hunting, and keep a .45 with safety slugs under the bed. Thats it. No crazy guns for me.

I dunno, but I don't think it's altogether unreasonable to want restrictions on a "semi-automatic shotgun". The name alone implies inherent bad ju-ju. If I actually used one, I imagine I might see things differently. No one is taking away your right to bear arms. You may not be able to easily purchase your dream gun(s), however.

This is the sort of thing that just shouldn't have much say in the election, at least personally speaking. Once again, I'm not a hunter/sportsman.

We might remember the mentality we're dealing with here. Kerry is the same crackhead who made the following quote when discussing deer hunting in Holmen, Wisconsin during a July visit:

He was asked, after trapshooting in Holmen, what kind of hunting he preferred. His answer, ?Probably, I?d have to say deer. It?s tough, depending on where you are. I go out with my trusty 12-gauge double barrel, crawl around on my stomach, I track and move and decoy and play games and try to out smart them. You know, kind of play the wind.?
My first shotgun, a Winchester 1200 semi-auto, was given to me by my father in 1978.

Can you enlighten the gun-dumb as to what your talking about?

Sounds like he goes deer-hunting instead of playing paintball to me. Maybe it's more interesting to him if he pretends the deer are gonna shoot back.

Sure. After 25 years of deer hunting spanning five states and two countries on two different continents, I've never known nor heard of anyone deliberately hunting deer with a double barrel 12-ga.

Not saying such practice isn't possible. I knew one old boy who capped a Whitetail with a double barrel only because he'd stepped out on his back porch with weapon in hand, and Bambi just happened along.

People hunt with shotguns and deerslugs all the time. From my experience, the choices are usually semi-auto or pump-action. Admittedly, I have hunted deer with a single shot HR 20 ga. However, the only reason was that particular weapon was all I had with me.

Then Kerry comments that he likes to "crawl around on my stomach". At his age with a double barrel shotgun? Ask almost anybody who's seriously hunted deer and they'll tell you he's likely full of sh!t.

Well your 45 under the bed will be no more if Kerry has anything to do with it, Not only does he want to ban semi auto shotguns and rifles he wants any thing that has a detachable magazine gone, I didn't see the one with Kerry as the deer hunter but the big duck hunter was a good one, The man was in vietnam for 4 months but still doesn't know how to shoot

Gun toting crazy fool. WTF does anyone need a semi auto shotgun? Sounds like a great thing for drive-bys and people who can't aim. Your right to bear arms should be restricted to ball and powder guns from the 1760s like they wanted. LOL.

Why should there be yet more restrictions on buying firearms? There are already more than enough laws on the books already.

I see no reason for the government to tell me I can't have what I am constitutionally guaranteed or try to circumvent that right by making ownership so difficult that it becomes nearly impossible.

I hope you are joking, though I doubt it.

Actually that was never said by Kerry. Do some searching... it's just typical right wing liars making up stories, only they're wearing tinfoil hunting caps this time. :p

Ah, better link. Thanks.

?Probably I?d have to say deer. It?s tough, depending on where you are,?

and

The first was in responce to the question "what do you like to hunt?". The second was part of another question about hunting as opposed to skeet shooting. The two responses were only put together by the media. It's even mentioned on the GWB campaign site. It's simply a clever way to make another "I invented the internet" smear story.

It's working for one brainwashed gun owner. Sad :(

The Fearless Liar has done more to take away civil liberties than any other President in History and this one guy says he will stick with the Fearless Liar based on what he thinks may happen with Kerry with nothing in writing or even spoken about directly by the Candidate.

Utterly pathetic :frown: :|

I suspect this is a brainwashed Bush fanatic to begin with and just spewing this drivel in a masked, meek and weak attempt to sway other gun owners that may not be totally brainwashed by the Neocons to succumb to the full brainwashing.

Never knew that the comment was on Dubya's site. However, I'd say the comment would certainly be mentioned there because it's sure funnier than hell.

Have you the full text of the interview?

I've been digging on this and can't find a complete transcript of all the questions. Some information can be found here though. I'm still searching... I'll try to find more

It seems clear to me the context was lost with the jsonline.com article. Its seperated by paragraphs but I can see how both comments got lumped together, not to mention its very convenient to the conservative sportsmen's agenda.

BTW, neither Bush or Kerry have an official plank regarding gun control (as of today).

ARM - A weapon, especially a firearm: troops bearing arms; ICBMs, bombs, and other nuclear arms.

Do you think just any one should be allowed to by ICBMs, bombs, other nuclear devices or everything else that falls in the category of arms?

When it was written there were small arms and cannons. Do you really think they meant every farmer to keep a cannon in their barn?

Hehehehe, gotta love the Neocons brainwashing. Amazing how that can make anything seem that's the way it's supposed to be.

I have been hunting for 20+ years and i would never use a shotgun when hunting deer, shotguns are for birds, foxes, rabbits, smaller prey, anyone who needs a shotgun for deerhunting shouldn't be hunting.

Unfortunetly Klixx, some states here only allow shotguns for deer. It's a travesty, I agree, but sometimes the law really limits your choices.

I didn't know that, my apologies to anyone i offended because of it.

That is one stupid law, i use the same guns for deer as for larger prey like moose when i am up in the north hunting with my family.

Still, if you need to do it with a shotgun, why wouldn't a 12-gauge dual barrel do? Why would you need a semi automatic? More than one shot would cause too much damage and a bigger caliber would be even worse.
