"Massachusetts Senator John Kerry is favored over President George W. Bush (47%-43%) among likely voters when Ralph Nader, Libertarian, Constitution and Green Party presidential candidates are factored into the 2004 presidential race, according to a new Zogby America poll. The telephone poll of 1011 likely voters was conducted Thursday through Saturday (August 12-14, 2004)."

Excluding Nader

"The presidential ticket of Massachusetts Senator John Kerry and North Carolina Senator John Edwards gained two points since the Democratic National convention over President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney and now leads by seven points (50%-43%)."

Numbers keep looking better and better for Kerry.
Other tidbits

"The majority of respondents say that the country is headed on the wrong track (51%), while 42% feel the US is on the right track."
"President Bush?s overall job performance rating moved up three points to 47%, with more than half of respondents continuing to express their disapproval."

Too bad only the battleground states count. Nation wide polls mean little.

Yep. Check out the latest ones on those also. Kerry winning in Florida, NH, Oregon, Pennsylvania. Not bad.... Hope he doesn't get complacent though.

Unfortunately, Kerry keeps on falling for Karl rove's traps. The latest was his comment on how he would have still voted to go to Iraq. While he explained his reasoning Rove/Bush were able to twist it into another flip-flop.

Karl Rove is an evil genius. And Bush, whether you believe it or not, is smart for having Rove on his team. Take the 2002, the republicans won on Homeland Security issue. A department that they didnt initially want. They then decided to co-op the issue and make it so that democrates wouldnt vote for it. Ingenious.

While I really want Kerry to win, I have doubts that his campiagn staff will be able to keep up with Bush teams tactics. Bush's team is one step ahead of kerry. Only current bad news is keeping bush down right now. Good news or average news could shift opinions in less that 2 weeks.

I would love to see Bush's strategists against Clinton strategists. That would be an amazing battle to see who could manipulate the public more. (on that note isnt it sad that plotics is about manipulating people, on both sides, and cant be straight about facts?)

Kerry did NOT say he would still have voted to go to Iraq.

He said he would still have voted to give the President authorization to use, if necessary, after diplomatic measures and inspections failed.

Bush jumped the gun and summarily screwed the pooch.

I don't believe for a minute this will be a cake walk for Kerry. This will go right to the wire and Nader could well get Bush elected. Then we get 4 more years of profit before reason.

Edit: How can anyone in their right mind think the U.S. is on the right track? Yeah, if the end of the line is Hell maybe.

NEWSFLASH:

"Chess9 is now reporting that Kerry will win Florida. Tim and Chris will have interviews at 5 and 9. With a win in Florida, 'Kerry will take the election unless it goes to the Supremes or, worse, the House of Misrepresentatives, says Chess9.'

Meanwhile, Moonbeam is having a cow now that Chess9 is on anti-depressants and threatening to get giddy over Kerry. Zoloft stock is climbing....

Karl Rove is now taking triple doses of Restoril and Immodium AD to settle his constitution in light of the alarming news.

Rip is reading Leviticus by candlelight and praying for a horde of locusts in Florida on election day. He calls it a test of faith. Red said: 'Who gives a F***, and rode off on his Harley."

 Robert.

The polls look good for K/E but we still have to see how the RNC convention plays out... plus I think this contest has only just begun to get ugly.

BWA HA HA HA HA!!

Do you not realize how accurate Zogby has been lately? Esp. in the 2000 election?

BTW, the most telling statistics from that Zogby poll:
As part of the Zogby-O?Leary Report Red and Blue States Monitor, in the Blues States, those won by former Vice-President Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election, Kerry receives 54% of support, as compared to Bush 37%. In the Red States, Bush is favored by 47%, while receives 41% support.

Bush's support is weak in the Red States while Kerry's is strong in the Blue States. Won't take much more to tip those Red to Blue!

Still way to early to be so cheery Conj....and historically Gallup has been the benchmark, Zogby has only shown slight accuracy as of lately...

Aside from being inclined to give polls more weight after the RNC convention I'm also inclined to look more at state polls over nat'l ones. VA and NC are looking like possible battlegrounds.

haha!

On a more serious note, this is bad news. The republican convention still hasn't reared it's deceptive head yet, and Kerry should be doing better at this point. He should be way ahead and he's not. Come november it's 4 more years and I'm with red who gives a fvck.

element this election year isn't exactly "typical" by any means. Neither candidate will receive much a bounce from their respective conventions. Kerry has now come to a bit of an advantage, gaining a lot of ground in the BATTLEGROUND STATES, which is where this election will be decided. If Bush cannot combat Kerry in Ohio, Penn., Florida, he will for sure lose this election.
