Let me see, in an age where the Republic Party has directly caused the following:
-lobbyist scandals already resulting in the indictment and conviction of GOP house members
-the resignation of the GOP leader of the House while under multiple ethical clouds and while under indictment
-resignation of GOP house member for preying upon high school males, and strong indications that the top GOP House leadership deliberately covered their eyes to prevent discovery of the truth,
-rampant corruption amoung GOP House members, even to the extreme that Duke Cunningham took it
-reversal of a government surplus to record deficits
-despite record deficits, passage of upper-income biased tax cuts to promote further economic stratification in the USA,
-the President flying in special to sign, and Congress hurriedly passing unconstitutional legislation in order to interfer in a state court matter and a family's most personal situation, despite the fact that over two dozen lawsuits and appeals on the very issue had already been fully litigated and lost by what the President proposed (Terry Schiavo case),
-pork barrel politics absolutely out of control
-Katrina
-Iraq
-domestic auto industry and the housing market sliding into recession,
-etc, etc.
And a stupid joke by a former failed Presidential contender (who is not even running for office) is all of a sudden THE political issue of the campaign? God have mercy on forgive us if we have become so disoriented and lost in the wilderness.
