I'm cracking up all right, at how not funny that joke really is......because I'm sure that was never the joke to begin with. Just another pathetic attempt by Kerry to cover his disdain for the military.

Whatever.............

Right, he went to all the trouble to show his disdain so he could immediately cover it up. Get real Corn. This is beneath you.

People say things that enter their minds all the time.....without realizing the fallout until after the deed. Case in point, just ask Brian Kinchen. He's sorry now too, just like Kerry, his words obviously don't reflect who he really is or what he believes......

No, if you're dumb, don't study, have a cocaine addiction, come from a very wealthy powerful family, can con the religious right, and don't mind stealing an election - yes, you can become President. Once you have the job, if you are really dumb, you can invade a few countries and think somehow everything will be "OK"

You are so right, I mean Bush was such a bad student at Yale that he got better scores than Kerry.

If Bush is stupid for getting better grades than Kerry, what exactly does that make Kerry? It's dumb (Bush) and dumber (Kerry) huh?

You seem to forget the context of the whole Bush WMD joke thing. It was all a skit for the "Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner" which is a place where the President always makes fun of himself. This last year he had the impersonator on stage with him.

Yes the jokes about WMD were bad, but they were in a context where you make jokes. Meanwhile, Kerry's comments where at a political rally, not a humorous event. HUGE difference.

indeed. and with those jokes, bush completely undermined the entire reason he sent our military in the first place, undermined the hundreds of thousands of deaths in iraq, and his entire credibility. and now, most republicans are jumping on kerry for remarks that some people might find offensive when bush's was far and away much worse? jon stewart is right, the gop really is grasping at straws in the face of reality.

After hearing all you people complain about how all I do is defend Bush and follow the party line it is fun watching you all do the same thing for Kerry now.

Since this story broke it is has been a non-stop defend Kerry-a-thon by some of you. First you said he must have misspoke, then you repeated the Kerry line that it was as bad joke, then you started with the ?he apologized? lines.

After doing nothing by attacking me and a few others for daring to defend Bush you are now falling over each other to defend Kerry. Sort of shows that all your attacks on me and the other Bush defenders were as hollow as we expected. It is all about politics and nothing else. Now that it is your guy who looks bad you are doing exactly what you claimed you hate me for doing.

Here's the difference: we're telling the truth. The attacks against Kerry are a lie.

Deal with that; you have no rational argument against it.

Do you see one person here saying "Kerry didn't botch the joke, he did it just right!", or, "Kerry had a great delivery, hilarious!"?

No, you don't - that would be bias, spin, the things we attack for.

When we criticize Bush for, say, his joking about not finding WMD under the couch in the oval office, as tasteless and inappropriate, defending him on that would be 'spin'.

On the other hand, take the following actual Bush quote:

?Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.?

Now, the democrats have just as good an argument that Bushreally just admitted being a traitor and trying to harm the country as you do that Kerry was insulting the troops.

But you don't see democrats make that argument - they say Bush misspoke and said something embarrassing, which would have been a legitimate comment on Kerry.

If you did see someone claim Bush really meant he's trying to harm the nation, you could then defend Bush and I don't think virtually any liberals here would attack you for it.

The liberals here are not showing bias in defending Kerry, other than a bias for the truth.

Now if you were an asshole partisan hack I'd think you believed that but I know different. His only disdain is for Bush.

Kerry meant exactly what he said

Couldn't have said it any better!!

I PRAY that Kerry continues to speak his mind, and let the public know exactly where he stands....

I hope you guys help him win the Democrat Presidential nomination.

I agree with everything you guys say, Kerry shouldn't back down, he should "keep it up"

I love John Kerry...

Aaaaaand then you wonder why you "get attacked for every post!" Geee, I have NO idea why that might be.

At least Kerry, unlike the a-holes in the Whitehouse, actually SERVED in the military.

Only, when he blows snot and boogers on a nakpkin, and there are REAl tears rolling down his cheeks, not his overshot of visine, will we believe him.

Kerry's political career is over.

Kerry needs to shut his mouth but at least he wasn't a coward like our Dumb Ass President and these punks like Heartsurgeon and ProfessorJohn. You know they thought they were better than those who served while they played in College. These kind of punks really burn my ass.

that STILL doesnt make any sense whatsoever given the fact that Bush got better grades at Yale than Kerry did. That's like the dumbest kid in school making fun of someone else' study habits... it doesnt make any sense! His original statement was a peek into his true conscience... He simply miscalaculated the reaction it would cause. After all, everyone thinks the military is stupid, right? Even Kerry's own party leaders are condeming the original statement and called for an apology.

his.excuse.was.pure.spin. (aka bullsh*t!) It never was a botched joke about Bush. It was a botched moment of honesty about how he sees those serving in Iraq right now.

and even if it wasnt, it's still funny as all hell to watch him get steamrolled.

Actually it's only fair, Bush gets nailed time and time again for being a Moron and saying extremely stupid things, why shouldn't Kerry get zinged when he occasionally says something lame?

I concur. I served 6 years in the military. I respect Kerry far more than Bush or anyone else in the Whitehouse. I also think he should shut up.

Yeah, that's about the size of it. This is the kind of "scandal" that has a whole lot more traction with chickenhawks (and, apparently, fake heart surgeons) than with veterans.

Let me see, in an age where the Republic Party has directly caused the following:

-lobbyist scandals already resulting in the indictment and conviction of GOP house members
-the resignation of the GOP leader of the House while under multiple ethical clouds and while under indictment
-resignation of GOP house member for preying upon high school males, and strong indications that the top GOP House leadership deliberately covered their eyes to prevent discovery of the truth,
-rampant corruption amoung GOP House members, even to the extreme that Duke Cunningham took it
-reversal of a government surplus to record deficits
-despite record deficits, passage of upper-income biased tax cuts to promote further economic stratification in the USA,
-the President flying in special to sign, and Congress hurriedly passing unconstitutional legislation in order to interfer in a state court matter and a family's most personal situation, despite the fact that over two dozen lawsuits and appeals on the very issue had already been fully litigated and lost by what the President proposed (Terry Schiavo case),
-pork barrel politics absolutely out of control
-Katrina
-Iraq
-domestic auto industry and the housing market sliding into recession,
-etc, etc.

And a stupid joke by a former failed Presidential contender (who is not even running for office) is all of a sudden THE political issue of the campaign? God have mercy on forgive us if we have become so disoriented and lost in the wilderness.
