Hopefully he'll cut back on the amount of wasted taxpayer dollars to prosecute them. As opposed to asscroft's monumental waste of money.

from my ask fs5 anything thread... someone over in OT wants to know the answer and I'm refering him to you guys :)

I think Kerry should require drug testing for all talk radio/TV personalities. THis could remove a majority of the conservative voices from the air. Just a thought

Kerry is a democrat. Democrats do not want to legalize marijuana any more than republicans do. Vote libertarian if you want to do some drugs.

Actually, marijuana was almost decriminalized during the Carter Admin. The problem, of course, came when they cry of "What about the Children?" was raised to the highest level. That was, of course, due somewhat to parental concerns and also to knee-jerk anti-drug sentiment heightened by decades of propaganda.

Marijuana can't be decriminalized for that reason, but I firmly believe it should be legalized, subject to the same kinds of regulation as alcohol and tobacco, even though it's not nearly as deleterious in its effects. Those who market the product would have a vested interest in keeping it out of the hands of children.

There's always a catch, catch-22, and that maintains the status quo nicely. Politicians always have their convenient anti-drug soapbox, voters have their obviously necessary boogeymen, the drug trade introduces billions into the underground economy and the oh-so-vital prison industry, law enforcement stays busy, and anybody who wants to score can usually do so rather easily...

Basic can't get there from here scenario, by design.

Hell, they should legalize everything. Let the problem of stupid people solve itself.

Would these stupid people who ruined themselves be eligible for welfare?
