I have a Kenwood 52TrueX drive and was wondering what errors you guys are experiencing with this combination. I have yet to see anything definite just a range of problems installing and running the game.
I am on a BP6 with two Celeron 300As OC'd to 495 (110 FSB, and have tried default 66)), a Geforce SDR, a pair of Voodoo2s running in SLI, and a SBLive! X-Gamer. I am running the latest drivers for the video and sound cards.
I have installed Win2k Pro, Server, WinME, and Win98SE, each of them give me the same errors, (NTFS on the Win2k installations). When I install from my Kenwood drive, (doing the full install) I get the error that it couldn't read d2char.(forget extension). This is right after I insert the play disc it asks for.
I managed to install D2 on my machine using a mapped network drive, which after that I enabled my CD-ROM (Had disabled in the BIOS). With this, SOMETIMES it will work, SOMETIMES it will not. Load times vary, it can take a minute and work, or a minute and say the CD isn't in the drive. Or it can take 10 seconds to load, or take 10 seconds to say the CD is not present.
Anyone have any ideas, or a similar problem?
