Kenwood 72x not reading *anything*!! Please help!!!

I've had this drive since this summmer, worked fine for a while (a big disappointment, but still worked...was just picky about burnt discs, etc..)...anyway, I didn't use it for a while, but it was still in my system. Now, all the sudden, it won't read ANYTHING. Windows recognizes it, as does everything else in my system. It just won't read anything. Tried it in 2 different systems, both running win98se...tried updating firmware, didn't help. Help??
