Kentsfield & Mobo?????????????

I don't remember where but I read in some other sites that Kentsfield will be supported by current 965 mobos..........
But the question is what specific 965 mobos, I mean the Gigabyte for example have a couple of 965 mobos but when you look at theCPU supportlist, only the GA-965P-DQ6 supports the Quad Core......
So where is the truth about all current 965 support Quad Core??????
What about the ones who already have GA-965P-DS3/S3, they cannot upgrade to Kentsfield without changing mobos........

It seems Intel is very good at this kind scheme.........

They ought to be good at it, they invented it.
 
well any motherboard which supports core 2 duo today(965 and 975 series chipsets)will support kentsfield with a bios update.
I'm not sure about the 945 series.
So to answer ur question.Ur safe with a 965 series mobo.
 
Just because the chipset supports the CPU doesn't mean the board necessarily will. Things like voltage regulators can affect a board's ability to host a CPU like Kentsfield as well, or so I would think. That was an issue with 975x boards that were released before Conroe as well.
