I had the CPU for about 1 month and finally I built the computer today. Anyhow, I'm using Scythe Infinity on a 975 BadAxe M/B with Idle temp around 52c. I think its running too hot but don't have any idea what other stock Kentsfield core temp. are. I was hoping to OC it but with Idle temp at 52c, I might have to find other methods of cooling.

Any recommendation????

If you can, go with water cooling. If you want to stay with air, then use the Scythe Infinity

EDIT: Also make sure that the airflow in your case is good.

I think cpu_z m,ay be a bit backwards...Kentsfield is a 4core chip....Show us screen naps of all 4 cores...just pull the core tab down and screen snap it....

Is this a nice way of saying, "I don't believe you have a Kentsfield, prove it."?

LOL j/k. I would like to see to believe also. :D

Ok,

after reinstalling the cooling fan few times - I decided to change the cpu to see if core temp. comes down.

thus, it seems like kentsfield runs 14-16c hotter than the X6800. I'll do some more testing tonite.

Well, I guess that would be expected. After all, there are 4 cores instead of two. You would think it would throw off some more heat and use more power.
