Ken Dorsey

Mookow

Lifer
Heisman candidate, was the 27th pick in the 7th round of the draft, 241 overall. I heard a lot of trash talking from Miami fans about him, I said he wasnt that great, and apparently the NFL agrees. Just thought I'd share.

Many times there is a big difference between a good college QB and a good NFL QB. It's hard to say that he wasn't a very good college QB, when he lost but two games.

you mean the same nfl that picked Ryan Leaf, Jeff George at the TOP??

There is a long history of 1st round qb's not living up to hype.

another example, Peyton Manning (can't win a playoff game) vs Tom Brady, Wins the Super Bowl.

what was brady a 7th round pick?? manning #1 overall??

doesn't mean manning is a disappointment but he hasn't taken the colts where they want to go.

From watching him during the Fiesta Bowl, Dorsey wasnt all that mobile in the pocket either. And the biggest knock most people have against Dorsey is his arm power, or lack thereof.

*has a mental image of Wilhelm railing Dorsey* 😀

You bring up a really good point here. Picking a quarterback is pretty random. There is no telling whether a QB will have a good career or not. Back when the Pats took Bledsoe with their first pick, Rick Mirer was taken second. Bledsoe has had a pretty good career so far. What has Rick Mirer done?

Also, guys being picked in some of the later rounds could be really good ... Montana comes to mind. Picking QB's in the NFL draft is pretty much a crapshoot ... there are no guarentees ... and to some degree, the same applies to RB's.

it's as much the system your drafted into as it is your own talent. you also have to be kind of smart about it.

eg. If Raiders had drafted Montana into that Vertical game that Al davis liked soo much (before the current era), montana would have failed miserably and no one would have heard of him. he needed walsh just like walsh needed montana.

another example, Jeff George, all the talent all the skill, no fvcking head. the guy is a moron.

they have dillon. you can do a lot w/ a GREAT RB and a GOOD QB.

it'll be interesting to see if Palmer can make any difference with that team.

You can have a great RB and a great QB, but if they have to face the defense's entire D-line right after the ball is snapped, its hard to get anything going

true. i think kitna is a good qb. supporting cast just isn't quite up to snuff. the bengals picked up some very good players in the draft, though (johnson out of wku is the fridge reborn!). palmer's game will be nfl-ready in another year or two.

Actually, thinking about that... I'd rather have a great defense than a great offense. Look at the Super Bowl. Look at the Fiesta Bowl. Both were won by the teams with the better defense

Go bucks and by the way... Dorsey SUCKS!!!!!!

I taped the game, and on review, let me just say I got a chuckle out of the fact that in the second half, the announcers were predicting that Krenzel would have to come out of the game due to all the hits he was taking. It ended up with Dorsey not even being able to stay upright on his hands and knees, just from that one hit by Wilhelm...

Some more words.... Game over.... no wait, late late call that shouldn't have been.....

Damn, I just took a look at the breakdown of things since I didn't watch it. Am I the only one surprised that Grossman went 22nd overall? I mean, didn't he show his true colors outside of the Spurrier system last year? Kinda funny actually. Shows Chicago really has alot of faith in Kordel by burning their second pick on an overrated QB.
