Ok..SOO I have a Freezer in the basement of my college house that is currently unpluged. Its from the old people that lived here their entire lives and we havent used it at all yet. So I thought...Hey..I love beer...I like to brew beer...I need a kegerator.

Now..I have the C02 tank, a mini keg, the tubing and the taps for it. All I need is to turn it into a Kegerator. Here is the problem...In order to make it not freeze the beer I need to make it into a refridgerator. I googled it a bit and found out that you can turn a freezer into a refridgerator by buying a new thermostat and installing it. This is the problem..I am no good at electronics..Anyone know how i should install this thing or even where I should be looking to put it? I think this would be a fun project..I just need to know how to do it.

thx.

thx. Yeah I think it will be awesome once I get it done...

Come downstairs and have a frosty beer ready for me at all times..not to mention making it a lot easier to brew.

But I still need to figure out the installation..and I am no good with a drill/saw.

you need to get a temperature controller. you plug your freezer into the controller and plug the controller into the wall. it has a probe to read the temperature inside the freezer and then you can set your freezer to the temperature you want. the Johnson A419 is a popular one with homebrewers as are the units by ranco. find some homebrewing forums. they talk about what you want to do in depth.

One of my friends have a kegerator, really great to conserve those kegs that just don't get finished at parties (no we ain't pussies, we just expect a certain amt of people and sometimes it doesn't happen)...but yea if you end up NOT building it you can get one off ebay fairly cheap.

Me and my buddies snuck a kegerator in the dorms (weymouth) at texas tech. I had bought both sides of the room due to a marijuana problem. You could only fit like 12 ppl in the room max. It was a trainwreck. I went through 9 kegs in a month. So we had a 500$ pot vaporizer and kegeradior. I bought them all :/. I was drinking like 4 beers between classes. Vaporizing like an eight a day. I had a different username back then. Its fun to go back and check out my scattered thoughts. There was no water in the room so beer was the only answer.
I sold it within a month.
