So, I ran into this stuff called Kefir at the grocery store today. Interesting taste. Reading up on it on the internet and it seems to have some health benefits. Does anyone here drink or make the stuff regularly? Any truth to all the hype I'm reading or is it a bunch of hippy mojo?

It containts lots of beneficial probiotic bacteria which also reside in yogurt, althought in much smaller amounts. That said I have never constantly drunk it since it is rather expensive ($3.29 a bottle in my area). But I usually do when I have had to go on wide-spectrum antibiotics as it helps counteract the negative effects.

Yeah, it was rather expensive, so I only got one bottle. However, I'm reading up on how to make my own once I get some beans.

My parents were hippies so I drank it growing up, it's basically a cross between milk and yogurt. Strawberry kefir was actually pretty good.

Drink it fairly often. It's a Russian thing, and with my parents being from Russia you get used to having stuff like that.

An acidophilus supplement would do as well and the price per dose would likely be lower.

Only really necessary f you're on antibiotics or have som intestinal malady.

Yeah, I was also looking into making my own yogurt also, but kefir looks easier to make. Don't have to worry about maintaining a 110 degree temperture and getting more bacterias after a certain number of batches.

I thought this thread was about the IAI Kfir. Only military buffs would get that one.
