Closed or open isn't going to make much difference. There's a big gap there even with the lid closed.
This. Has nobody else spotted the fact that there is a really big gap between the bottom of the lid and the top of the bowl?Closed or open isn't going to make much difference. There's a big gap there even with the lid closed.
Yup, so the water would just evaporate, then disappear into the black hole between the water level and the lid.

Don't flush until your poop fills up the toilet. You'll save a lot of water that way.
is this too much?

i'm sure everyone else realizes that, and i'm sure everyone realizes that preventing the toilet bowl water from evaporating won't actually conserve any water either. the only time water is used by the toilet is when the tank is filled after flushing, and how much water was in the bowl does not affect how much water is required to fill the tank. i'm sure spaceman realizes this too; he can't be as stupid as he pretends to be, he's just a troll.
