Republican guys it's time to put on your big boy pants and decide if the Goveenment stays open. The veiled insult from Trump this morning regarding Chuck & Nancy got things off to a good start.
Republicans own this they control the House, Senate and President.
I look forward to your solutions.

This was a pretty brilliant set up by Schumer from a few months ago. He was always planning to hold the Gov. hostage to get concessions and Trump stupidly fell for his trap and singed that deal to fund the government for several months, now the deadline arrives just when Trump needs the government funded most. Every day Schumer and Pelosi gain more leverage over Trump and the Pubes.

I think it's a fairly good bet that the government shuts down. The Dems took fire from their own for not negotiating DACA protection and giving the Reps an opening to try for healthcare again. Also it was nice of the President a while back to take credit for "a good shutdown" that would be coming. Republican efforts to pin this on the Democrats when they have total control of the government are going to be desperate and transparent.

Guess I get to look forward to a (possibly unpaid) vacation. :expressionless:

Given the laundry list of things Congress hasn't done but really needs to do I think December-January is going to be an incredible shit show. When might they pass a CSR in that? Word coming from the hill seems to be nobody knows.

The Treasury is expected to exhaust it's extraordinary measures for putting off a debt ceiling increase sometime in January also.

Yes. I’ve got no hope that congress will easily resolve the issue.

If the gov't "shuts down" (incidentally, how the F does something like that even happen in a rational universe?), what happens to those of us on S.S.?

Republicans control House, Senate, Presidency, SCOTUS. Good luck blaming the Democrats for anything.

I hope the dems shut this mother all the way down. Gotta get a DACA concession or a net neutrality concession at least.

Why does America deserve to be protected from GOP policy? They will just keep voting GOP reps in if Dems keep shielding everyone from the results. Fuck that. Let the GOP trash the place.

I doubt they will shut down the government. If all else fails they will vote to push it back a few months, and we will tackle it again in February or March. When that comes due we will push it back again, and we will deal with it in June, and then when we push it back again we will deal with it in October, then we will push it back until after the midterms. Then we can blame the Democrats.

Iirc, unless Congress makes an exception, you won’t get a check.

SS gets paid because it's not appropriated. Now people working at the SSA won't but that wouldn't affect benefit payments in at least the short term, long term is an unknown.

If the US hits the debt ceiling then all bets are off. It's generally thought that payments can't be prioritized.

I don't understand how the GOP controlled House and Senate could even consider their tax-giveaway bill before addressing this FIRST. After all a basic rule of budgeting on any level is to look at what is coming in first, then allocate the outflows.

Kudos to the Dem leaders to finally standing up to Trump and telling him no. Something that should have been done in his formative years.

Point is for Democrats to vote in favor they want a concession because history has shown even when there is a Republican majority they are not capable of getting a majority vote.

"The democrats wouldn't work with the fine R's on the very, very good legislation! Let the gov. shutdown! Totally irresponsible and SAD!"

The will any ways. Republicans appear to the be the default choice, regardless of the harm they cause. If people didn't learn from 2008, they won't learn just because they can't stream Netflix any more. The republican base literally has zero logic, cause and effect, critical thinking, or memory skills. To top it off, they all live in an echo camber, so they will only hear how everyone except real republicans caused their issues.

A majority of America voted for democrats to stand up to this crap. Rolling over and playing dead will not help the cause in the future, because again the republican base is just a bunch of useful idiots.

The American public's memory is only about 3 months long. Republicans know that no matter how badly they screw their constituents as long as it is not a few months until their next election they will have forgotten by the time they enter the voting booth. Then all they have to do is deny the things the opponent says, because they are Democrats are you going to really believe them? They are the enemy, of course they will lie to make me look bad! Fake news! SAD!

This tactic has been working for decades, and Trump took it to a whole new level. No amount of evidence is enough.

Make sure Trump and his cronies go unpaid if they shut the government down.
