Keep X1300 Pro or go with good ol' Nvidia?

As I stopped playing 3D games and uses computer for web browing+photo editing,
I've been happy with this outdated P4C 2.6 + 19" CRT + 1G Ram + FX5200 setup.

However, my CRT started dying and that cheap 22" LCD monitor was quite a temptation.
I got my first LCD a few days ago and all hell broke loose.

22" Samsung 226BW happened to be that C panel and the LG 226WA I replaced it to had a DVI problem just like other million people especially who use FX5200. I spent whole night trying to fix currupted EDID code on the monitor but had no luck.
Before returning the LCD, I gave it a try and bought this ATI card without any research and it works fine and Vista runs a lot faster!
Now, it feels good that I'm done with this hell but at the same time, it feels somewhat weird because it's my first PC stuff that I bought without knowing anything about it.

I know it doesn't really matter as I do not play 3D games. However, I do have some concerns because back in those days when I was following hardware scene(more than a few years ago), ATI cards had some issues:

1. Driver problems: Well, nowadays, Nvidia seems to be having hard time on Vista.
How about ATI?

2. Price: I paid CDN $113 for X1300. I know I can get this one Geforce 6800XT 128mb cheaper.
Should I stay or change? or is there anything better in that price range? Although I haven't played 3d games for so long, I might just play some games.

3. 1:1 pixel mapping: I'm not sure if I'm using the right term. What I'm asking is if this ATI card supports resolutions such as 640x480 that's not stretched on the wide screen.
I remember reading that ATI drivers do not support them as Nvidia drivers do. Is it true?

If you don't play games at all, you might as well stick with the X1300. The 6800XT may be a little faster, but it's quite old now and it will still be basically useless for gaming. For casual gaming, you could look at a 7600GT instead, which is available for about $80 USD after rebate at least around here.

They still don't support this at all as far I know. Although Nvidia's feature doesn't work half the time either. You are best off getting a monitor that has it built into the hardware.

if ur PC is running fine, why change it?

ati's doing very well with vista drivers i've been sing it since the first week vista was officially released.
the x1300 is a good card for what u do, theres no point in buying/selling just to save/spend a few bucks. the 6800xt is a gaming card thats older than the x1k series
i'm not sure bout the 1:1... never needed to use it
