Go with the i810. It's 2D performance is a fair bit quicker than the S3 Trio64V.

Well, the i810's video is the i752 chipset. Sure, it's not a screamer, but its performance is about equivalent to the Riva128. Decent, but low quality gaming, but still not too bad with the latest drivers.

You can forget about any 3D on the S3 Trio chipset....performance is truly poor....sorry...that's not even performance. It's crap for 3D.

Don't know about S3, but i810 2D-quality is one of the crappiest I have ever seen.

Your best bet is the manufacturer of the Mobo.

I believe the 810 gives you 4 megs Vid mem too.

definitely the i810.

is the 2d really all that bad quality wise? anand seemed to rank it near the g200 back in the day.

The Tri064v doesn't evn support 3D. I had one from an Everex system I got a couple years ago and when playing 3d games I had to resort to software mode. It's the crappiest video accelerater I've had the misfortune to own. It's now resting in my closet where it deserves to be:D

The 2D isn't all that bad on the i810....in fact, it's quite good. Somewhere near the quality of the Matrox G100 or G200.

You can get the drivers for the i810 (i752) here at Intel.

Use both! (Dependent on your OS, ...) The S3 may have to be primary in Win2K, but Win98/ME shouldn't matter. Linux with XFree86 4.x should dance nicely as well.

The 2D quality of the i810 is absolutely horrible.
Im not very sensitigve to 2D quality, I dont notice a whole lot of difference between my old V3 and my GF DDR.

But at work I had a comp with an i810, recently bought a V3-2K PCI for this comp, the difference is incredible.
And this is on a Compaq S910 19" running at 1280x1024@85 Hz.

I'd still go with the i810 however, I had a S3 Tri64 a long time ago, and it truely sucks in about every imaginable way.
