You owe us to tell exactly which sensor fixed your transmission.

By the way, those Maxima's routinely run 200K+ with normal maintenance and few consumables such as starter and alternator (and MAF and rear caliper and front axles and ignition coils; OK it is a long list but nothing really out of ordinary)

It was what Nissan called a "resistor assembly". It basically tell the car how much pressure to apply when shifting/changing gears. Since it was defective, incorrect pressure was sent to the computer and causes it to shift hard and abrupt.

tardy to the party...but I would say if it gets to the point where you are spending more per month than you would a new car payment (or yearly for that matter), buy a new car.

My corolla cost me, unknowingly, $4000 per year the past few years on various minor repairs, and one major repair. Thats the cost new car payments, so I bought a new car.

This all depends on budget at the end of the day.

If you are happy now and really don't want to put money on cars, then drive it till it dies.

I'd set a line in the sand though as to what an upgrade you are willing to pay for would cost.
