At least once a day, and often more I keep on getting this PfModNT error in
the Windows XP Event Viewer, under System log. I did a search on Google,
and the few results usually mention creative soundcards? Here is the exact
error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7000
Date: 3/1/2004
Time: 7:26:22 AM
User: N/A
Computer: C
Description:
The PfModNT service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Anyone have an idea of what this error refers to? My system really hasn't
changed all that much recently, nor have I noticed any major problems. BUT,
when I play the new Unreal Tournament 2004 demo, sometimes the PC will lock
up on me after about an hour of online play with the 'Squeal of Death' from
my Speakers and my Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard. Could this be related to my
error?

Anyone have an idea?

From a quick google search it seems that the PfModNT thing is part of the Creative Labs drivers. Maybe uninstall and resinstall them, or look for a newer version. Or even check their support site for information on the problem.

its the drivers from your sound card. did you recently update them? if you did, then you should roll back to a previous version. if you have not, then look for an upgrade.
