Keep losing video signal - is it the card?

So I've had this x850 pro for about a month now and it's sweet. But every once in a while while I'm playing a game the screen will go blank or get garbled, then the game will repeat sounds like a broken record. Then sometimes the screen will come back on with a VPU recover message but other times I need to reset. I'm not overclocking and this has happened after several hours of gaming as well as just a few minutes. It's happened in Quake 4, CoD2 and now Scarface.

Is it an overheating issue? Is it a configuration issue? (like geometry instancing, triple buffering, etc)

Well after a bit of digging it's looking like a heat prob even though running at stock it should be alright. I guess the stock HSF on this is that bad.
