keep losing my connection

I have cable and as of a few days ago I keep losing my connection, to games, web pages everything, but then it comes back.

The cable modem shows that Im connected the whole time.

I have Me on one partition and xp pro on another and it happens on both OSes, I have Nortin Internet security as I have no router and Ive never had issues with it before. I dotn want to run wothout it due to a lot of rather ominous port scans and connections it blocks.

any ideas?

have you made sure your dns settings are correct?

This used to happen to me and it always came down to my dns settings.

I had them as automatic which is when I had problems, but since manually setting the dns servers used ive had no problems.

I downloaded visual route and it has given the message thats theres a router problem with my isp,..

Ill have to give harbornet a call in the morning I guess.
