Keep Intel 80GB X25 or use C300

I have an Intel 80GB X25 SSD drive in my desktop. I ordered a 64GB Crucial C300 for my new laptop. Now I'm think should I use the Crucial in my desktop if its faster? My desktop is used mainly for gaming internet and email. And storage size doesn't matter to me. I'm looking to see which drive is the fastest all around, just not sure which one to use in which system...

They're both top dogs. The only two performance SSDs I recommend actually. The C300 benches better, but it's not enough that you'll be able to tell much difference over the time you own it. I bet if you do a blind test and reduce your partition on the Intel to 64GB you''ll have a hard time picking out the two unless you do something specific where the C300 shines.

If I were you I'd play around with the C300 in my primary system just because it's a new toy. 🙂

Really it is hard to notice difference between SSDs outside of benchmarks as they all have random read speed which is orders of magnitude better than mechanical drives.

You buy SSD and hard disk is no longer bottleneck.

yeah I'll probably stick with the intel in my main system and put the c300 in my new laptop..

is there a reliability difference? Is the C300 as reliable for things like resume from sleep, etc.? I've heard the Sandforce have problems with that, though it might be just with XP? Not sure on that.

what I mean to say is, that if there are resume from sleep/bsod problems with the C300 (check other threads in this forum for examples) then you might not want it in your laptop. Depends on your usage pattern.
