Hey all,
I keep getting one of those blue screen of death things lately when using my Dell Computer with Windows XP. This baffled me already, given that I had never seen the blue screen with XP. Anyway, it reads like Greek to me, so I'll post, word for word, what it said:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.
Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0xFFB6FE08, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF1E979c2)
*** v124nt.sys - Address F13979c2 base at F1E46000, DateStamp 3b55c0dc
Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.
Obviously, my only choice is to restart the computer. I do so, and when I do, that "Send Microsoft an Error Report of this Problem" or whatever dialog window pops up upon reboot. At the top of this window it says "The System has recovered from a serious error." When I click send report, it sends, then brings me to this webpage. I have no idea what v124nt.sys is, nor do I know what in this computer is made by Conexant Systems.
By the way, the computer seems fine, all my files untouched. But this screen continually popping up for some unknown reason is obviously disconcerting.
