keep getting all these damn popups from a virus possibly?

If you use AIM, check to see if you have new buddy info information. My girlfriend got hit with this thing too.

Run adaware.

my registry search didn't yield a av.exe

i think it's the talkstocks.net one. I'm doing the removal for it but it didn't find b.exe but it has a bbb.exe. It says it was last modified today at 12:12am...the time i clicked on my friends profile link. Do you think this may be the culprit?

looks suspicious. end-task it and remove it from auto start then see what happens

That's one of the others related to realphx. Talkstocks is the one that my girlfriend got hit with.

Try running the batch file above--it's not perfect yet though. You also still need to remove the link from the aim profile manually and possibly remove all the porn links it installed in Favorites and the toolbars.

different versions of that are out now.. wont always be "av.exe" or at least from what i saw it wont always be "C:/av.exe"

hey i accidentally clicked on that talkstocks.net one last night from a friends profile. but when it asked me if i wanted to install i said no; it then told me i had to say yes, at which point i just manually reset my comp. But earlier today, when my comp was slowing down, i did ctrl-alt-del and one of the programs running was just under "b." Flashget was also running, even though i didnt start it up myself or click on a link to d/l. do u guys think i have it? how do i get rid of it?
