Keep crossfire or not

Hello all. I am new to this forum and am looking for some sound advice which I am sure I will get. I have 2 gaming PCs, one mine and the other my sons. I have recently purchased a Titan X EVGA super clocked with the intention of replacing my R9 290X Vapor-X 8Gb crossfire setup. I game at 1080p so please do not scream overkill as some games tax even this res.

My question is. Should I keep my complete crossfire setup in my computer and the titan X in my sons so that I would have enough GPU power for both Nvidia and AMD optimised games? I can keep the Titan X in my Pc and sell one of the Vapor-Xs as I cannot run crossfire in my sons PC as it is not big or well ventilated enough.

Alternative is to sell 1 x R9 290x Vapor X and leave one in my sons computer which would give me some money back from the outlays.

Partially what has prompted me to buy the Titan X is that some of my favourite games like Witcher 3 and Far Cry 4 do not seem to run as well on AMD. It was months before Far Cry 4 had crossfire profile so I have not impressed with only being only to use I card.

Sons specs:
i7 4790k
Asrock Z97 Extreme 6
16 Gb G.Skill memory
240Gb Fujitsu SSD
R9 290x Vapor-X 8G
Zalman HP 850w

My specs:
i7 5930k
Asrock X99 Extreme 6
16 Gb G.Skill memory
2 x 256 GB Samsung Evo
1050w Seasonic Platinum

Thank you for your help.

I would sell it. CF support can take some time for games and unless your son is always checking up on driver updates a single card is probably best.

If you're throwing money like that around get your son a proper case. Titan x in yours and 290x cf in your sons with a new case. Even if you need a new mobo too I still think this is the way to go if you're willing to spend money.

If the games you like to play are NV sponsored titles (FC4 CF was added with a game patch), then ditch CrossFire, its just a waste.

I'm running Witcher 3 really well though.
