Keep crashing in Win 2000

I just recently installed Win2K. And im having a major problem locking up. It only happens when im switching windows or opening a menu... the mouse will stop moving and the PC responds to nothing. However if Im playing MP3s they will continue to play. I have the latest VIA drivers, and the SB Live drivers and NVidia 6.31. If I just leave my PC on running some programs it will run forever however if I start switching tasks/windows or open a menu ill most likely crash. Anyways here is my setup... I normally OC but I turned everything to normal for now. There is one other minor problem.... Winamp has a slight crackling sound... but I havent tried anything like MMJB yet so Im not worried about that much right now.

Asus A7V
T-bird 900
192MB PC133
20.5GB WD HD
Creative Annihilator Pro
SB Live! (The original one)
USR 56K PCI Modem
Intellimouse Explorer
Kenwood TrueX 72X
Iomega Zip100

have you checked that all your hardware is win2k compatible? if so then, check your vid card to see if its cooking up or check to see what you are running on the backgroud with task manager.

I had the same problem as you are having now, I found that using the specific drivers for my card made by the company instead of the reference drivers causes me not to freeze up anymore. Also the patch that was out from AMD to fix some agp problem, stalls my system too. Just install the Creative Labs drivers for your card and that should do the trick.

I guess I can try Creatives Win2K drivers even if they are hella old. Or maybe Ill try the 6.34 drivers. Aslo HOW in the heck do I get win2000 to store a window size? Having to maximize every dang MSIE window I open gets annoying.

Open Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, View Tab, Check (Remember Each Folders View Settings) if already checked uncheck and recheck then okay it.
