I listen to trance music a lot and quite often i keep blowing the fuses when i turn up my Cerwin Vega LS-12's. They are 250W speakers and I got a 100W amp.

I realize that the amp may not be powered high enough for the speakers, but i cant find a 250 (or close) amp on the market... anyone have any ideas how to prevent the fuses from blowing? if i install higher rated fuses ... think that would work?

thanks in advance..

rave on...

don't play your trance so loud :p

Sorry, I don't know anything about speakers and stereo equip. My friends amp used to cut out all the time...maybe try the speakers out on a friends amp and see how they do. and try his speakers on yours. Might help you pinpoint the prob..

late.

The fuses are there so you don't blow your speakers. Replace them w/ higher rated fuses and you will.

About all you can do is turn it down; you're clipping the speakers (driving the amp into distortion) which is causing your fuse to blow. Get a more powerful amp and it should make that less of a problem.
But the ultimate solution is to turn it down.

I think you'll find that many home a/v receivers max out near 100W, but company A's 100W isn't always the same as company B's 100W. How good is your amp?

turning up the volume all the way is a sure bet to blow some nice speakers with a junk amp. Get a better amp. 50 watts of clean distortion free power will sound 10x better than 200 watts of distorted power.

hmm thats funny coz the speaker manufacturer recommends increasing the fuse rating by half an amp if it happens too often.

parties on low volume ..hmm...wonder if the beer will hold the ppl if not the music :)

I know the thing about distortion, I think thats whats causing the problem...

thanks for the input guys.
