Yeah we went through this earlier in the thread, it seems that Elises are v expensive in the US compared to the UK as they only released them in 2005 over there.

To add insult to injury for the poor people state-side, the 2005+ sounds like it's worse, if anything, for pure driving fun. I'm reading about 1G Elises that weigh in the range of 1500lbs and less right off the dealer lot, some as low as 1200. That's epic.

I'd much rather have the older, weaker, lighter one and build the power up, than start with an expensive, much heavier variant.

Agreed. I think the reason the weight changed so much is that for the american market they had to change the engine to a bigger, heavier one. 1.8 or something...

Funny story, at the last auto-x school there were 3 men, myself included, driving Miatas, and 1 woman in an S2000 :hmm:

Granted mine was a turbo Miata and another was a V8 Miata...

A Miata holds precious little interest to me... but a V8, oh, that does.

Yeah I figure there's nothing under $10k that could touch a tricked out Miata. Sure something could out drag it, but not be as well rounded. Kinda was what I was wanting to make sure of.

I have a hardtop and never take the top off, so may just pull out the soft top assembly for a little more storage room. Maybe put a sub back there, dunno. All that's a long way off. I'll continue with the weekend drive and what not. Thanks for helping me make the right decision :D

Do this. Drops weight, no more leaky tops, sell it to get some cash, and the added storage space is great.

I'm not being facetious here: have you driven one? Or a turbo one?

You just blew my mind!

I've actually never seen a woman behind the wheel of a S2000... albeit, seeing a S2000 is a pretty rare thing in itself. I think Honda really made them too expensive (they were what... $30-35k base?) for most to even consider them. Maybe they needed a Lancer Evolution approach where the high-end version (the Evolution) is sort of subsidized by the standard trim's (normal Lancer) higher sales.

A former female coworker drove an S2000. A female in the same office building also drove one. An S2000 I regularly see on my commute home is driven by a female.

I think I see more women drivers of S2000s than male drivers..
