i've been browsing around the net looking for KDS rad 5 monitors. it seems to me that the KDS rad 5 is not the same as the KDS rad 5x line. it seems a little odd to me.

anyway on to the question, if there is a difference between the rad 5 and rad 5x what is it? is the only difference between the 2 the inclusion of a mouse??

The rad5 is the older of the three, the rad 5(p), 5q, 5s. The rad 5s is a lower cost lower quality, while the 5 and 5q are about the same. The 5q is newer and has more features but all and all i think the image is going to look very close. Both have the same max contrast ratio and brightness, but as you pointed out the 5 comes with a mouse and the 5q comes with the extending neck.

The 5x also like the 5s has a lower brightness and is of lower quality then the 5 or 5q.

I am not sure on all the stats, but just from looking at them and some of the available stats I would get the 5q or the 5.

You know, if the RAD-5 is so sweet, I wonder if the RAD-7 17" would be as good. It's only $499 at Sams.

so would it be a good idea to go with the rad5x or pay about 40dollars more for the 5? the 5q is about 10bux cheaper at mwave than the 5, would this be the best deal?? the comp will probably used mostly for websurfing, word/powerpoint/etc.., and some moderate gaming.

thanks in advance
