I'm shopping around for a 19" monitor in the $200-250 price range and so far the only good montor I've found is the Samsung 955DF and the NEC AS95F. I was wondering about the KDS monitors, are they any good?? Their specs seem to be really good for their prices but I don't know anything about them. How is their quality and reliability??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

KDS Monitors are good. I don't know the pro's rate these monitors. I would look for warranty, resolution/refresh supporte and size. If these all checkout then let the price drive the rest.

FYI...
KDS VS-190is is going for less than $150 shipped. You can check this out at Pricegrabber. Also, someone posted that you could get one for $130, but today is the last day for the rebate.

Their montiors are fine. However, it appears that the company will be sold to another company (they're going through a court-ordered restructuring process, similar to a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in the U.S.) in the near future (already signed a MOU to sell its assets to a consortium of investors), do not have high hopes on their A/S.

I've had a 19" KDS Avitron (flat tube/screen, trinitron) for 2 years now. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. I have been very happy with.

I have two KDS extreme flat monitors. I just bought my second one right before my first one died on me. It only had a few months on it. RMA is pretty painless with KDS. Jury is still out on their quality as far as I am concerned.

There's 4 KDS Avitron monitors downstairs in use here in my cousins' mini computer lab/gaming room. 3 19" and 1 21". They are good monitors, not the greatest, but excellent price/performance, considering it uses the FD Trinitron tube. There are slight geometry problems, but otherwise nice colors and text quality. They can be had for <$200 brand new from a place in the Los Angeles area. A friend of ours purchased 4 AV-195TF monitors at about $175 each I believe. You can get them from this guy who has an E-Bay auction for the monitors: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2058517381

The monitors were picked up to avoid shipping charges, and the guy seems like a trust-worthy vendor as there were no complaints by my friend. So if you're on a budget, I'd say these monitors are a damn good choice.

Note: I still prefer Diamondtron NF over FD Trinitron, IMO :D
